Learning outcomes
After having completed the course the student:
- Can apply advanced GIS analysis methods for studying various geographical themes
- Has readiness to work independently related to analysing, modelling and presenting spatial data
Content
This course is for the geoinformatics students who have experience on GIS and remote sensing softwares. The lectures and practicals cover various analysis and modelling approaches applied in geographical research. Different GIS and statistical software are utilized in the course (e.g. ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, RThe themes of the course focus on physical geography and natural resources.
Modes of study
Lectures (8-10 h) and guided practicals 18-21 h + independent work for finishing practicals) + independent practicals/a small project. The course requires also independent work on the practicals. The practicals are reported in a portfolio. The course also includes the writing of the essays/summary texts based on literature or other written assignments. The attendance is compulsory in the practicals.
Evaluation: 0-5. 60 % of the grade comes from the portfolio and 40 % from the essays/other written assignments.
